LUCY McLAUCHLAN PRINT LAUNCH

Sunday, May 13th, 2018

Please join us as we show off our completed new gallery space, Studio 4 gallery with an exclusive print launch by renowned artist Lucy McLauchlan. The event will be at The Framers at the Custard Factory on the 31st May from 6-9pm, all welcome.

British born Lucy McLauchlan’s large-scale monochromatic paintings have covered multi-story buildings across Europe, gigantic billboards in China, windows in Japan, huts in The Gambia, Italian water towers, Norwegian lighthouse, Detroit car parks and abandoned NYC subway tunnels.

Implicit within her work is a deep respect for nature as she draws inspiration from her immediate environment; allowing it to inform and direct what is an intuitive and explorative process.

Vanley Burke: By the Rivers of Birminam

Thursday, October 25th, 2012

We recently had the honour of framing over 100 photos for this amazing exhibition currently showing at the MAC in Birmingham. We’ve done a bit of framing for Vanley over the years but this was an amazing project to work on because of the scale and history of the images. Highly recommend going to see them for yourself,  there’s also a great book of these images published to coincide with the exhibition.

” Vanley Burke has photographed the Jamaican Community in Handsworth since the mid 1960s. His images reveal a great compassion for his own people, expressed in his image of the Africa Liberation Day crowds gathered in Handsworth Park.

The exhibition will contextualise the images through a collage of quotes from the press on the history of immigration to Birmingham. Nowhere can tell that story better than Birmingham and Vanley Burke is the photographer who was there and who knew he was living through a great moment in history.”

Portrait

This was a really interesting Portrait we framed made by tiny pinpricks in the paper allowing silver enamel painted on the back to seep through, we get spoiled here by our fantastic customers at The Framers with all the great art that comes through our door, everyday is like visiting a new gallery!

Lucy McLauchlan

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

I could write an S.A. on here about how great Lucy is but I’ll just mention we do a lot of framing for her, amazingly talented local lass, up to all sorts of projects and exhibitions all over the world, she’s represented by POW as well, as if her personal credentials and achievements aren’t enough, Banksy is digging her too! We also have a few of her prints available in Studio 4 gallery.

Faile

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

We get a lot of street art prints through our doors for framing, being friends of a few well known street artists and having framed for folks like Lazarides gallery, Scrawl Collective, Stolen Space Gallery, Fame and Pictures on Walls we have a good reputation for framing these prints. These are a couple of Faile prints we had come through a while back, love their work, check out boneyard project they were recently involved with.

Shirley Hughes

A nice signed print we framed by the children’s book illustrator Shirley Hughes, her book Dogger was my favourite book as a kid, lovely stuff!

Peter Blake and Paul Weller

Monday, February 14th, 2011

Another bit of framing for snap galleries, rather nice Limited fine art prints of Peter Blake’s artwork for Paul Weller’s album Stanley Road, signed by them both!

Banksy

Monday, February 7th, 2011

Handled this print very carefully! Just conservation framed this Ltd Signed Banksy print, framed a few of these over the years, we even used to stock Banksy ages ago when his prints sold for under £100, always a bit scary these days his work fetches silly money!
